Getting Started with BrowserMesh Automation Platform
Complete technical guide to installing BrowserMesh. Deploy Windows, Linux, Android, and headless server automation nodes with 100% local data sovereignty.
The Definitive Quickstart & Deployment Guide to Installing Desktop Apps, Android Cellular Nodes, and Headless Linux Daemons for Distributed Browser Automation.
Welcome to the official BrowserMesh Platform Documentation. BrowserMesh is a self-hosted browser automation and distributed RPA platform engineered from the ground up for software developers, QA test engineers, and enterprise automation teams.
Unlike legacy cloud automation setups that execute inside expensive cloud servers with high per-minute costs and bandwidth surcharges, BrowserMesh moves browser execution directly to your local hardware—your everyday laptop, desktop workstation, Android smartphone, or private Linux server. By utilizing your own infrastructure, you achieve 100% local data sovereignty and zero cloud execution markup.
Meanwhile, our cloud orchestrator manages identity, validates licensing quotas, coordinates your multi-device fleet, and powers an integrated marketplace of 250+ pre-built automation workflows. All browser execution runs through AutomationEngine—a high-resilience headless Chromium engine that stores all data locally in your private SQLite database.
How to Access the Universal Web Studio Console?
All platform orchestration, workflow configuration, live canvas streaming, and fleet telemetry are managed through the central Web Studio console at studio.browsermesh.in. Create a free account to monitor connected devices, configure automation tasks, and export structured data securely.
- Official Web Studio Console:
https://studio.browsermesh.in - Account Capabilities: Create an account or log in to monitor your connected hardware fleet, configure marketplace workflows, observe live runs at 30+ FPS, and download execution datasets.
Why Does the Studio Console Require Local Network Access?
BrowserMesh uses a decentralized architecture where the cloud management studio runs in your browser, while the automation daemon executes locally on your hardware at 127.0.0.1:3001. Chromium Private Network Access prompts require clicking Allow so the dashboard can communicate with your local execution engine.

└───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
What Happens If You Click Block on the Permission Prompt?
If you accidentally click Block on the browser permission dialog, your browser will prevent the Studio dashboard from communicating with your local companion daemon. This blocks workflow execution dispatches, heartbeats, and canvas video streams until you reset permission settings.
- How to fix if accidentally blocked:
- Click the "Tune" / Sliders icon or Lock icon on the far-left of your browser's address bar (next to
studio.browsermesh.in). - Locate the permission labeled "Access other apps and services on this device" (or "Local network access").
- Toggle the dropdown from Block to Allow.
- Refresh your browser tab (
Ctrl + RorF5).
- Click the "Tune" / Sliders icon or Lock icon on the far-left of your browser's address bar (next to
- The Desktop App Alternative (Zero Prompts): If you prefer not to manage browser permission dialogs, downloading the standalone BrowserMesh Desktop App (Windows / Linux) communicates with the local engine natively over operating system channels!

Option A: Desktop & Mobile Graphical Applications (GUI)
If you prefer graphical user interfaces with visual controls and native desktop features:
1. Windows Desktop Application
- Package: Standalone Windows Installer (
BrowserMesh-Setup-1.0.0.exe). - Capabilities: Bundles both the Studio interface and the Local Edge Automation Engine in a single package. Communicates over internal system channels with zero browser permission dialogs.
- Download: Download directly from the Download Portal or run the setup wizard.
- Windows Defender Firewall Note: The first time AutomationEngine or the backend daemon runs on Windows, Windows Defender Firewall will ask to permit communication. Check the box for "Private networks (such as home or work)" and click "Allow access".
2. Linux Desktop Application
- Package: Native
.debpackage (Debian / Ubuntu) or standalone.AppImage(Fedora, Arch, CentOS). - AppImage Quickstart:
Terminal / Code
chmod +x BrowserMesh-linux.AppImage ./BrowserMesh-linux.AppImage
3. Android Mobile Application (Mobile Browser Automation)
- Package:
BrowserMesh-v1.0.apk(Requires Android 10 or newer). - Mobile Node Capabilities: Embeds a complete, ultra-lightweight Linux container and ARM64 Node.js engine directly inside your phone, turning your mobile device into a dedicated automation node.
- Permissions Required: Grant "Ignore battery optimization" and allow "Notifications" so Android does not terminate long-running workflows when your phone locks. Uses an automatic Screen WakeLock during active jobs.
Option B: Headless Terminal Node Scripts (CLI & Server Deployment)
For continuous 24/7 background execution on Linux cloud VPS instances (Ubuntu, Debian, DigitalOcean, Hetzner, AWS EC2), dedicated servers, or headless mini-PCs:
1. Linux & macOS Automated Installer (Bash / Terminal)
Open your terminal and run this 1-line command:
curl -sSL https://www.browsermesh.in/scripts/install-headless.sh | bash
Alternative using wget:
wget -qO- https://www.browsermesh.in/scripts/install-headless.sh | bash
- What the script does:
- Checks system dependencies (Node.js, Chromium libraries, PM2).
- Installs the BrowserMesh daemon in
~/.browsermesh/. - Configures PM2 process supervisor for automatic crash recovery and auto-reboot on system restarts.
- Connects securely to your BrowserMesh cloud account so you can trigger and monitor workflows remotely from
https://studio.browsermesh.in.
2. Windows Headless Setup (PowerShell / CMD / Double-Click)
-
Option 1: One-Line PowerShell Command (Recommended for Windows Server)
Terminal / Codepowershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command "iwr -useb https://www.browsermesh.in/scripts/install-headless.ps1 | iex" -
Option 2: One-Line CMD Command
Terminal / Codecurl -sL https://www.browsermesh.in/scripts/install-headless.cmd -o install.cmd && install.cmd -
Option 3: Double-Click Installer File
